Rensselaer County and the Capital Region are home to outstanding health care facilities. Right in Troy, Seton Health and Northeast Health provide comprehensive health care services along the entire continuum of individuals' needs.

Seton Health provides care to the region's residents from 20 locations throughout the area. Anchored by the 201-bed St. Mary's Hospital, which has a 155-year history of providing health care to the community, Seton Health has established a reputation as one of the region's finest community hospitals. Specialty services include a childbirth center, outpatient OB/GYN services, incontinence treatment and wound care center, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, sleep lab, smoking cessation center, home health care, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, physical rehabilitation, diabetes education, stroke center, inpatient addiction services, oncology/hospice, medical/surgical, pediatrics and orthopedics.

Northeast Health and its two hospitals, Samaritan Hospital in Troy and Albany Memorial Hospital in Albany, offer comprehensive services to the community, including supportive housing and retirement living options. Serving 15 counties, the health care network also includes an Alzheimer's Disease center and a school of nursing. Specialty services include oncology, behavioral health, diabetes treatment, a family birth center, women's health, rehabilitative cardiac care, stroke, kidney stone treatment and primary care.

The Capital Region is also served by other outstanding health care facilities, including Albany Medical Center, the only academic health sciences center in the 25 counties of eastern New York and western New England. It provides the region with excellence in medical education, biomedical research and patient care. Other facilities include St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, Ellis Hospital in Schenectady and Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs.
